The Basics
I have a zero-tolerance policy for bigotry and jerks.
I enjoy writing longform roleplay posts, but I can adjust to shorter if need be!
I prefer to write with people over the age of 21.
If we're writing together and you'd like to chat and/or plot more, please ask for my Discord.
Notes
Writing is one of my main forms of self-care, so let's try to make it an enjoyable experience for each other. I work in game development, so I'm often busy, but I will always try to make time in the evenings for in-game roleplaying.
Please feel free to hit me up if you’d like to roleplay with Venka. I love writing and can never get enough, but adulting means I have to be picky about what I can and can’t maintain thread-wise.
Discord is my personal preference for lengthy scenes, since it allows me to pause if needed for IRL stuff. I will absolutely roleplay in-game, but if you want a longer thread, let’s exchange usernames.

She's slim and toned from years of dancing and assassination work, and takes great care with her hair and makeup on a daily basis.Venka's fur is longer than the average Miqo'te, and it requires a lot of work to maintain her fluffy tail.While her origins are unbeknownst to Venka, the complexion she inherited from her Miqo'te half becomes more apparent when she's had sun exposure and tans a faint shade of blue-brown. Due to the nature of her business, however, Venka doesn't get much sunlight, and generally appears to have the much fairer complexion of her Garlean side.In spite of her violent life, Venka has managed to keep the worst of her scars in places easily covered by clothing or jewelry. The most notable of her scars is on her chest, where someone cauterized a wound above her heart.

"People like me can't be heroes.
Nobody wants to owe their life to a monster."
By all appearances, Venka is a social butterfly. She is quick to smile, quick to laugh, and can brighten any room she chooses to grace with her presence. While she may not abide by all social conventions, she can be as polite as any noblewoman and make her way in almost any crowd.This sparkling exterior hides a more sinister side, however. Whether she was born that way or influenced by a life of cruelty and hardship, Venka has a hollow, empty place inside of her that she fills with violence and thrill-seeking behavior. She doesn't process her emotions the way most people do, and often finds herself at a loss when it comes to empathizing with others.
Skills

Dance
Venka is a self-taught dancer, and has developed her own style by watching Thavnairian performers and incorporating moves from her experience as a rogue. This is most evident when she's in combat, but can also be seen in performances.

Assassination
Using the skills she gained as a cutpurse and burglar, Venka has become an adept killer. Whether by poison or blade, she can take care of nearly any problem for the right price-- Though she may just do it for the thrill of the hunt.

Seduction
Charm is as sharp a weapon as any, and Venka has learned to weaponize hers quite well over the years. Whether to earn some coin or get close to a mark, she's adept at giving people what they think they want.
History
Origins

This section details information about Venka's life that she does not have any knowledge or awareness of in character.
About thirty years ago, two unlikely lovers met when serving in the same unit of the Garlean military. The man who would become Naevius het Avenarius had his life saved in combat by a young Miqo'te woman named Zahsa aan Nelhah, a centurion hailing from Werlyt. Though he came from a prestigious noble family with very traditional attitudes toward non-Garlean races, Naevius' sense of honor drove him to thank Zahsa for her heroism.Their first exchange left Naevius with a sense of curiosity and intrigue, and as time went on, he found himself conversing more frequently with Zahsa. The young woman's professionalism was unquestionable, but the spitfire personality beneath it all kept him coming back. Meanwhile, Zahsa found Naevius to be surprisingly empathetic for a Garlean, and found herself attracted to the gentle man she saw beneath his stern exterior.As their relationship blossomed and their discussions became more substantial, Naevius became more aware of the injustices the people of the annexed territories suffered at the hands of the Empire. He found himself questioning his entire belief system and the society he had grown up in. While Zahsa's words inspired these changes, she didn't encourage them; she wanted Naevius to make his own choices and show what type of man he was without any pressure on her part. Their relationship became physical around this time, leaving Naevius with a sense of desperation as the end of his service drew near.As the day of their parting approached, Naevius began telling Zahsa of his plans. He was going to shift his attention to politics, as his father had always wanted, but he was going to use his platform to promote more progressive policies. Zahsa was not optimistic, but she was supportive. She didn't want to spoil the few days they had left with conflict. On the last day of his service, however, Naevius surprised her with an offer to come with him and serve in his personal guard. Giving up her chances of becoming a citizen through military service, Zahsa agreed.Once back in the capital, Naevius began trying to change Garlemald from within the bureaucracy, advocating for the rights of annexed territories and the reduction of military force, among other things. He worked tirelessly for three years, slowly becoming a greater threat to the status quo. When his father passed away, Naevius scandalized Garlean society anew by going public with his relationship with Zahsa. The pair were married quietly in a questionably legal ceremony, and she began living as his wife instead of his guard. Within the year, she was carrying their first child. Despite the turmoil surrounding Naevius' work and their social standing, the couple were happy and hopeful, dreaming of a future where their daughter would live in a Garlemald of equality and peace.Sadly, Naevius and Zahsa had become symbols of change that many in the Garlean government could not abide. Several months after their daughter was born, they narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. At the same time, whispers of Naevius being a traitor to the Emperor began making the rounds. Heartbroken, but fearing for the safety of their child, the couple made the decision to flee Garlemald for the safety of Eorzea. In an effort to avoid being stopped when leaving the capitol, the family planned to travel separately. Sadly, their plans were for naught. Naevius was arrested before he even left the city. Zahsa and the child had escaped in the caravan of a friendly merchant, but at the border, Zahsa was recognized and taken into custody. The child remained hidden, however, and the merchant pressed on, hoping to still meet Naevius in Ul'dah.After several weeks in Ul'dah, the merchant finally heard word of his friend's fate. Naevius had been tried and executed for treason; Zahsa had simply disappeared. The merchant was now stuck with an orphaned baby he did not have the means to care for. After several weeks of trying to find a home for her, he finally surrendered her to an orphanage, hoping that she would be adopted quickly and have a safe, quiet life of anonymity. Alas, Nymeia had drawn different cards for the child...
Ul'dah

The orphanage where Yehn grew up was like so many others in Ul'dah: overcrowded, understaffed, and poorly run. Some matrons were kinder than many, and made sure the basic needs of the children were attended to, but the sheer number of orphans in their care meant that most were neglected in one way or another. The children were a law unto themselves, banding into small gangs to pick on the smaller and weaker kids, and the petite Yehn found herself on the receiving end of this bullying more often than not. To her credit, she did not take her beatings quietly. By the time she was about five years old, she already had a reputation for scrapping, and was frequently being punished for leaving the other children bloody.It was around this time that a man of apparent means came to the orphanage. He was charming and appeared to be well-off, giving Yehn and the other children candies as he spoke to the matrons. Though the children were told to be on their best behavior to increase their chances of being adopted, Yehn lost her temper when another child stole her candy. With her usual gusto, she promptly attacked the thief, starting an all-out brawl in front of the guest. The matrons broke them apart, apologizing profusely to the man, but he seemed amused by the spectacle and asked for Yehn's name. With another piece of candy, he knelt down and offered to adopt her. The matrons agreed, relieved to finally be rid of a troublemaker. They gave Yehn her spare set of clothing and set her on her way, wishing her well.Yehn didn't know what to expect from her new home, but she knew something was wrong when the man brought her to a tavern instead of a house. The man introduced her to a group of other children, all rather dirty and ill-kempt, and informed her that she now worked for him. For the next few years, she slept on a few blankets in the attic with the other children and spent her days learning to pick pockets and cut purses on the streets of Ul'dah. Her first apprehension by the Flames occurred shortly after her arrival. Joabhe retrieved her and beat her for getting caught.Yehn was a fast learner and quickly became one of Joabhe's best cutpurses. He began calling her "Trinket" for all the jewelry she managed to steal for him. As the others followed suit, she became more Trinket than Yehn.As she grew older, Trinket became more aware of the way Joabhe treated the other children her age, as well as the way he was beginning to behave toward her. She had no way to leave the city, as Joabhe kept all of the earnings from their work, and had no desire to become one of his toys, so Trinket hatched a plan. Joabhe caught her trying to poison him, however, and beat her viciously. After years of accepting his abuse, Trinket fought back-- and won.In the fog of her bloodlust, Trinket cut off Joabhe's head and hands and left them on display on Sapphire Avenue, somehow avoiding detection. She cleaned up, returning to the tavern to collect what gil she could find. The Flames stopped her to question her about Joabhe's death, but were unable to find any concrete evidence to tie her to the crime. After a few weeks, Trinket bought her way onto a caravan to Ishgard, leaving the blood and dust of Ul'dah far behind.
The Lost Years

In these seemingly silent years, tales of suspicious thefts by elusive and nimble-fingered maids appear in records from Monetarist manors throughout Thanalan and as far as the frozen halls of Ishgardian nobility. There is no evidence to support that Venka was able to travel so far and ingratiate herself so thoroughly in such a diverse number of places, yet the Grand Companies have taken note of several pieces of jewelry in her collection that match descriptions of several stolen items.If these crimes were, indeed, all committed by Venka Brazen, she took the opportunities available to recreate herself in the years before she reappeared in public records by name.
Lady of Vice

With presumably ill-gotten gil, the girl set up shop under her newly claimed name in the ocean air of Limsa Lominsa, providing services as a prostitute and running a small gambling hall out of a single rented room. Her genteel manners and well-bred way of speaking charmed patrons of all classes, and she quickly accumulated the funds she needed to expand her ventures. Within a year, Venka was the madam of a bordello staffed with remarkably loyal employees who were adept at pleasing custom.Venka Brazen began giving back to her new home through donations to orphan homes and aiding the abused in escaping their situations. (It is around this time that the Maelstrom began seeing higher rates of sudden, unexplained deaths among individuals who had previously come to their attention for violent domestic disputes; Correlation, however, cannot prove causation, and the Maelstrom was unable to open a case on the matter.) Some of her most extravagant donations were made to the Edelweiss order to fund the betterment of unhoused youths.
Hooks
Vice Queen;
Venka owns and operates a fledgling vice empire in the seedy streets of Limsa Lominsa. Her main businesses are gambling and prostitution, but she dabbles in far worse when the occasion arises. Perhaps you need a job, or someone to disappear. Perhaps you just want to use her occupation as leverage. She keeps her secrets close, but things have a way of getting around in the underworld…
Bad Old Days;
Venka has spent her life fighting to survive. Perhaps you encountered her before she gained her newfound power and prestige. She may want to ensure you keep the past in the past.
Ennui;
After a life of constant conflict, Venka finds the life of a businesswoman terribly dull. She spends her nights in search of thrills, cheap or otherwise. She’ll often be found at a fight club or a brothel, constantly on the hunt for something that will make her feel alive.
Scars;
Most of her scars are well-hidden beneath her clothes, but there’s more than one would expect a pretty girl like Venka to bear. If you’re nice, she might tell you where she got them.
